I'm an Enrichment leader for the Relief Society, one of the largest woman's service organizations in the world. I had been working on my own for a brief time. However, I just recently joined forces with the enrichment leader from another branch of the Relief Society and we have two girls officially composing our committee, both of whom are Japanese. I assumed I was making things easy for them, when I asked if they would be willing to work together to call or visit a few girls, to invite them to the activity we have planned for tomorrow morning, I included my apartment on the list, as they know me, and my roommate is Japanese.
I came home from having dinner with a few friends tonight, and found a large heart taped to my door. It was a hand made, personalized invitation the girls had made...adorned with smiley faces, hearts, and cats, as I've come to find Japanese girls are a fans of, when it comes to writing notes. It was a blessing to see that they were so eager, and thoughtful in their simple assignment, that they had gone far beyond my wildest expectations. It occurred to me, that there is a reason we are called on to work with the good people around us... They can show us the good in their hearts and encourage us to be better, and contrary to what I'd like to believe, we learn that no matter how organized, proactive, or whatever we are, although we may be able, we should not do everything on our own.
