Let's just say that internet virtual tours are revolutionizing the classroom (at least mine). I found this awesome virtual tour of The Dome of the Rock. We're studying Medieval Islamic art in 4th grade. It's amazing! Especially when I've got a sweet projector and I Beam Interact Software. I can go to the site, hand the kids a stylus, and let them tour a nearly true to life version of the Dome itself. Cool!
This reminds me strangely of when my little sister came to school and introduced me to the world of Google Earth. I dropped everything and visited every place on my list: The Pyramids! Greece! The Eiffel Tower! Haggia Sophia! The Wal-mart down the street!
I nearly died...of excitement.
If that was me, you should have seen the fourth graders.
But, that was yesterday. Today, we practiced piecing together foam squares in mosaic patterns. Even the most jittery of the bunch were hunched over their little shapes, painstakingly placing one color besides the next. It was a hit! I even had kids crying over it.
Haha. Crying over little foam squares...now that is passion.
I sound like a horrible person. Perhaps I am.
