So I went on a super cool trip to Green River, Moab, and the surrounding areas. I interviewed a close relative of a man who carved his name into the sandstone surroundings in 1926...as it turns out he had done it on more than one occasion, and Grace says she gets friends from town stopping by to tell her they've seen his name again. It was way cool to put a story to the name. She mentioned Albert used to tell his children he carved the little rock holes in the Sego Canyon with his pocket knife (Sego Canyon pictured above).

It was hot. But, I learned this weekend that applying sunscreen four times a day is a fairly successful cancer prevention method. (Even when your sunscreen expired five years ago). Over a hundred degrees, in the sun all day, and no burn. Now that's got to be a record for a redhead.

I painted at Arches. I climbed up to the tip top crevice of the North Window, and laid out my painting supplies. I got a little clumsy, and knocked over my water. It slopped over the side of the rock, and filled a perfect little hole, from which I painted the rest of the day.

In Helper, I found what remains of a Piggly Wiggly! And a dog in a store front window. Here's my proof, dad. There's no way he's ceramic.

Maybe not ceramic, but certainly animatronic.
