Bundle of Joy (1956)

Debbie Reynolds has redeemed herself--by raising Princess Leia. Unfortunate, really, that Eddy Fisher turned out to be a regular Darth Vador (before the camp fire at the end of the sixth movie). He walked the plank with Elizabeth Taylor. What a chump!

Really, I saw the most charming Debbie Reynolds film--Bundle of Joy--starring Debbie and Mr. Fisher himself. Debbie gets a Baby for Christmas. "If I want a baby, I'll do it the right way!"--and a father and grandfather to go with it. Who is the father? Vador, of course--but only after a sudden, but believable, proposal. Luke is delighted to have his grandchild named after him.

Although the film entertained themes of flirtation in the work place, and the leading lady ends up accepting a proposal from her boss, and he has to fire her to kiss her, and rehire her, and fire her to kiss her again--It wasn't that bad, because the lug head had a few redeeming qualities, and the show was a regular classic comedy--you know the kind that's intelligent and even a little bit funny.

There's nothing like going to a New Year's party dressed as a beautiful foreigner who can't speak a lick of English--seems like Audrey did that once. I'd like to try it, especially, if the old frumpy land lady'll watch the baby that isn't mine, but is, but isn't, but is--You CANNOT take him away from me...HE LOOKS LIKE ME!

"It don't care who the father is, I AM HIS GRANDFATHER! He looks like me."

Yes, you are...and you'll certainly star as the grumpy old man won over by an orphan child or two in every film I've seen(Pollyanna).

It was great! It was funny! I could stand to watch it! Now, that's really all I ask.

A round of applause for Debbie Reynolds, and whoever wrote the script, may the force be with them to infinity and beyond.

This feels like stream-of-consciousness writing. Like perhaps I need to be inside your head or else I get lost in the thickets.

You do. And you have to see the movie. And you have to know who all the actors are. And you have to know all the other movies they starred in. It's really not meant for anyone but me, and maybe Justin, who's spent his life and his entire life savings attempting to know everything that no one knows about American Cinema.

I get it this post. I watched the movie with her and enjoyed it. I told her that Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds are the real life parents of "Princess Leia."
